But it\u2019s the family we\u2019ve built.<\/p>\n<p>And on Thanksgiving last year, we all sat around Dad\u2019s small table\u2014me, Karen, Dad, and even Karen\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-935\" data-inserter-version=\"2\" data-placement-location=\"incontent_25\">\n<div>\n<p>The food was good. The conversation was warm. And no one was ashamed of anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Dad said grace. Short and simple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for this food. And for family. The real kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We all said amen.<\/p>\n<p>And for the first time in years, I meant it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-936\" data-inserter-version=\"2\" data-placement-location=\"incontent_26\">\n<div>\n<h2>The Lesson<\/h2>\n<p>People ask me sometimes if I regret leaving that Thanksgiving. If I regret embarrassing Karen in front of her parents.<\/p>\n<p>The answer is no.<\/p>\n<p>Because that day wasn\u2019t about revenge. It was about drawing a line.<\/p>\n<p>My father worked his entire life. He provided. He showed up.
