According to reports, she had been working a shift alongside her mother, Mandip Kaur, when the heartbreaking incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"828\">During their shift that day, Mandip became concerned when she realized she hadn\u2019t seen or heard from her daughter for more than an hour. At first, coworkers believed Gursimran might have stepped away to assist a customer, but concern quickly grew when another employee noticed liquid leaking near the bakery\u2019s industrial oven \u2014 a sign that something was seriously wrong.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><\/div>\n<div data-google-query-id=\"CLul692TspMDFQ8sVQgdsm8GaA\">\n<p data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"903\">Mandip went to check the oven herself and made the devastating discovery.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"1090\">\u201cI opened the door and she was there,\u201d Mandip told the Daily Mail. \u201cI couldn\u2019t handle myself. I was there on the floor with her for five or 10 minutes. I didn\u2019t know what had happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1204\">She also described seeing a dark liquid coming from the oven, which can reach temperatures of up to 400 degrees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\"><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1440\">Authorities later confirmed that Gursimran\u2019s body had been found near the baking racks inside the oven. Investigators from Halifax Regional Police reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed employees as part of their investigation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1578\">After examining the circumstances, officials announced that the death had \u201cbeen determined not to be suspicious,\u201d according to NBC News.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1846\">Nova Scotia\u2019s Department of Labor, Skills, and Immigration conducted a separate workplace investigation. Officials reported that the oven was functioning properly and that there were no violations of occupational health and safety regulations linked to the incident.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"1848\" data-end=\"2049\">Greg Hanna, the department\u2019s Director of Communications, stated that the oven could be opened from the inside and that investigators found no evidence suggesting workplace safety rules had been broken.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2051\" data-end=\"2174\">Despite those conclusions, Mandip and her family say they remain deeply dissatisfied with the outcome of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2176\" data-end=\"2390\">\u201cAfter 18 months [of] investigation they are unable to discover what happened,\u201d Mandip said. \u201cThey couldn\u2019t find any solid thing. They don\u2019t know. They don\u2019t have any proof. No solid results. We are not satisfied.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"2392\" data-end=\"2558\">The mother firmly rejects the idea that her daughter may have intentionally harmed herself. She says Gursimran had been in good spirits just hours before the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2560\" data-end=\"2617\">\u201cDoes she look depressed? She was so happy,\u201d Mandip said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2619\" data-end=\"2790\">According to her family, Gursimran had been the valedictorian of her graduating class and hoped to pursue medical studies in the future with the goal of becoming a doctor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\"><\/div>\n<p data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"3136\">The tragedy also had a significant impact on the local community. The Walmart store where the incident occurred remained closed for four months following Gursimran\u2019s death.
