Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since then, several actors tied to the Harry Potter movies have publicly made it clear they don\u2019t share the same views as the author \u2013 including franchise leads\u00a0<a id=\"182757\" href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/daniel-radcliffe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" type=\"post_tag\">Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>\u00a0and Emma Watson<\/p>\n<p>In an essay written for LGBTQ+ organization The Trevor Project, Radcliffe apologized for any \u201cpain\u201d Rowling\u2019s comments may have caused.<\/p>\n<p>Watson also addressed the controversy directly, telling fans: \u201cI want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are,\u201d according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tyla.com\/entertainment\/celebrity\/jk-rowling-daniel-radcliffe-emma-watson-apology-response-838188-20250103?utm_content=tyla&amp;utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawRuU6xleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBiNHBQcEVmU2I3V3lsY0VPc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHvC-iYXH_uboBLA_pA5otuIk4Oj_nH5NrBADEl9pztOdjh2-2djKa9hH7-MS_aem_7vAmCfg9pQgyH6JxVOmoWg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tyla.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The conversation resurfaced again in April 2024 after Rowling posted about the Cass Review \u2013 an independent review into gender services for children in the UK led by pediatrician Hilary Cass.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-sparked-reactions-online\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sparked reactions online<\/h2>\n<p>Calling it \u201cthe most robust review of the medical evidence for transitioning children that\u2019s ever been conducted,\u201d Rowling claimed the findings showed that \u201ckids have been irreversibly harmed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cThousands are complicit, not just medics, but the celebrity mouthpieces, unquestioning media and cynical corporations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The post quickly reignited online backlash, though one supporter defended Rowling and suggested Radcliffe and Watson would eventually apologize to her publicly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust waiting for Dan and Emma to give you a very public apology \u2026 safe in the knowledge that you will forgive them \u2026\u201d the person wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Rowling responded bluntly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot safe, I\u2019m afraid,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCelebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women\u2019s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her response sparked another wave of reactions online, with many social media users defending Radcliffe and Watson instead, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson won\u2019t forgive JK Rowling for her transphobia. Has she thought of that?\u201d one person reportedly wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Another added: \u201cThis genius thinks JK Rowling literally gave birth to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Utterly lunatic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut even if she did, that would not compel them to agree with her.
