{"id":6467,"date":"2025-02-16T04:05:46","date_gmt":"2025-02-16T04:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news-vm.com\/?p=6467"},"modified":"2025-02-16T04:05:46","modified_gmt":"2025-02-16T04:05:46","slug":"burnout-goes-horribly-wrong-in-abermain-nsw-with-two-children-rushed-to-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news-vm.com\/?p=6467","title":{"rendered":"Burnout goes horribly wrong in Abermain, NSW with two children rushed to hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Two young children have been seriously hurt and another five onlookers injured in a burnout gone wrong at an illegal street race gathering.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The 18-year-old driver lost control while performing the burnout in front of a crowd at Abermain, west of Newcastle in the\u00a0<span data-track-module=\"internal-body-link\"><a id=\"mol-19379680-ec10-11ef-bad7-b18dbc4413b1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/new-south-wales\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">NSW<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Hunter Valley, just after midnight on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The P-plater&#8217;s car smashed into a parked vehicle which then struck seven onlookers, including a eight-year-old and a 10-year-old.<\/p>\n<div class=\"connatix-wrapper\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Witnesses said the driver of the car was allegedly travelling at approximately 100 km\/h when he attempted a burnout and handbrake turn, before he lost control of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The children were treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It has been reported the driver, an 18-year-old man, suffered serious injuries after he was bashed by bystanders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Five other adults attending the illegal street racing event were also injured and taken to hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"artSplitter mol-img-group\">\n<div class=\"mol-img\">\n<div class=\"image-wrap fff-pic\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-d7715424df0e209b\" class=\"blkBorder img-share\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/02\/15\/21\/95255073-14401791-image-a-21_1739655878063.jpg\" alt=\"Eight people have been rushed to hospital after a teenage driver doing burnouts allegedly crashed into a parked car near Cessnock in NSW\" width=\"634\" height=\"352\" data-gallery-handler-attached=\"true\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/02\/15\/21\/95254949-14401791-image-a-18_1739655644503.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2025\/02\/15\/21\/95255069-14401791-image-m-30_1739655907976.jpg\" alt=\"A crime scene has been established and the Crash Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Other witnesses claim the family with the two young children were homeless or parked at the secluded industrial zone to sleep for the night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Locals took to social media after helicopters were spotted scouring the\u00a0Abermain area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The driver remains in hospital under police guard with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A\u00a0<span data-track-module=\"internal-body-link\"><a id=\"mol-a5043810-ebe5-11ef-9d59-bf90bb25a516\" class=\"class\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/crime\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">crime<\/a><\/span>\u00a0scene has been established and the Crash Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two young children have been seriously hurt and another five onlookers injured in a burnout gone wrong at an illegal street race gathering.
