I am beyond frustrated. My mom has always watched my kids \u2014 it\u2019s just what she does. And now, all of a sudden, she\u2019s decided that she\u2019s \u201ctoo busy\u201d because she wants to prance around in some dance class and have brunch with her friends instead of being where she\u2019s actually needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

My wife and I work full-time and count on her to help with the kids, especially the younger ones.<\/div>\n

Now she\u2019s just throwing that responsibility away because she wants to \u201cenjoy life?\u201d What about our life?<\/p>\n

Where am I supposed to find the money for a babysitter? She\u2019s retired \u2014 she has nothing else to do \u2014 so why is she acting like she gets to just quit being a grandmother whenever she feels like it?

She raised me, and now it\u2019s her job to help me raise my kids. That\u2019s how family works. I don\u2019t understand how she can act this way.

Hi everyone, Mom here. I wasn\u2019t planning to respond, but here we are.

I love my family, and I love my grandkids. But let\u2019s get one thing straight \u2014 I am not a full-time, unpaid babysitter.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve spent decades raising my own children, and now that I finally have time to enjoy life, I refuse to spend my golden years stuck at home changing diapers and cleaning up snack crumbs.

I gave my son everything I had \u2014 love, support, and yes, plenty of free babysitting over the years.<\/p>\n

But I am 71 years old. My knees ache, my patience is thinner than it used to be, but believe me, I\u2019d rather push through a waltz than sit through Paw Patrol.

I\u2019m not abandoning my family; I\u2019m just choosing to live a little while I still can.<\/p>\n

And believe it or not, dancing and brunch aren\u2019t reckless acts of rebellion \u2014 they\u2019re just me finally having some fun.

I\u2019ll always be here when it truly matters, but if my son thinks I owe him free childcare for life, maybe he needs some lessons \u2014 on gratitude.\u00a0\"\ud83d\ude0a\"<\/span><\/p>\n
