We still have two young children to care for, and they are at a very tender age. In light of this, we respectfully request some space, time, and privacy to focus on healing and helping our children recover as we try to move forward with our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite no body being found, her devastated parents have formally requested that authorities in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/dominican-republic\/\">Dominican Republic<\/a>\u00a0issue a legal declaration of her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/dead\/\">death<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter obtained by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/03\/20\/us\/sudiksha-konanki-parents-death-declaration\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CNN<\/a>, the Konankis stated that investigators also believe Sudiksha drowned and that \u201cno evidence of foul play has been found.\u201d Given this conclusion, they have asked police to proceed with the necessary legal steps.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-166679\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/03\/21100147\/suda.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/03\/21100147\/suda.jpg 960w, https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/03\/21100147\/suda-768x766.jpg 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"958\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Facebook \/ Sudiksha Konanki<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe understand that certain legal procedures must be followed and are prepared to comply with any necessary formalities or documentation,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n<p>The family explained that having Sudiksha officially declared deceased would allow them to \u201cbegin the grieving process and address matters related to her absence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Legal experts note that such a declaration would not only provide emotional closure but also allow the family to settle her estate. Personal injury and criminal defense attorney Phillip DiLucente pointed out that it could also open the possibility of legal action, though the Konanki family has not indicated any intention to pursue a lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The Loudoun County Sheriff\u2019s Office in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/virginia\/\">Virginia<\/a>, where the family resides, is supporting their request. However, the final decision rests with Dominican authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff\u2019s spokesperson Thomas Julia told CNN: \u201cThat still does not confirm exactly what happened, and we may never know with certainty. But Sheriff (Mike) Chapman believes the investigation in the DR should be completed before the case is closed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under Dominican law, a person is not typically declared dead without either a body or evidence of a crime.
