And now she is hoping to use her experience to help others.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, Griffin was cleared of her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/cancer\/\">cancer<\/a>\u00a0last September. But now she wants to make sure people are able to catch the symptoms early so they can also recover as she did.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-severe-intestine-pain\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Severe Intestine Pain<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Initially, Griffin assumed the intestinal pain she was experiencing was because she had developed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/food\/\">food<\/a>\u00a0intolerances. She attributed the intense bowel movements to her gluten allergy. She began to journal and keep track of what she was eating and how it made her feel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was one of those things where I knew something was going on, but I didn\u2019t see it was anything more than, \u2018OK, maybe I\u2019m just getting older\u2019,\u201d Griffin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/news\/health\/colon-cancer-symptoms-signs-diagnosis-268796-20250320?fbclid=IwY2xjawJKEZlleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHaLELgB44kNlFNhVIki6gxk-o7PwAPEaakitevnu2PYxeOj9pIW3KZVa9g_aem_poqt43D4AJey2OXoz6L6xw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>. Then after a few breakfasts, she was experienced what felt like glass going through her intestines. She then decided to restrict her diet further and cut out dairy, bread, gains, and past.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-blood-in-stool\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blood In Stool<\/h2>\n<p>Griffin shared her experience, \u201cI experienced intense and sudden abdominal pain pretty frequently. My abdomen was bloated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say, \u201cIt was very hard to sit, stand and use the bathroom. I started noticing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/tag\/blood\/\">blood<\/a>\u00a0with each bowel movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She described her bowel movements as being very narrow and that even after one she would not get any relief.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-drastic-weight-loss\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drastic Weight Loss<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI was not exercising or consciously trying to lose weight,\u201d she said in an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilad.com\/New-York\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">interview<\/a>. She lost about 20 pounds in a month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did begin to associate food with pain,\u201d she went on to say.<\/p>\n<p>As her symptoms were progressing she decided to visit RWJBarnabas Health for answers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fatigue<\/h2>\n<p>Griffin, who was used to taking care of six children, was incredibly agile. But she noticed one more change in her physical health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started to feel more exhausted doing very normal things \u2014 climbing a flight of stairs, walking down a hallway, things that would never, ever cause any kind of stress,\u201d she said about her fatigue symptom.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-trouble-with-colonoscopy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trouble With Colonoscopy<\/h2>\n<p>She decided to go for a colonoscopy to see what was going on with her body. But her fears were soon concerned.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CLiPyM7zm4wDFfLTEQgdBU0pAg\">\n<p>Doctors were not able to carry out her colonoscopy because a large tumor was obstructing her colon.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2024, she was diagnosed with colon cancer.
