The young boy was raised in New Jersey by his grandmother, Ethel Nicholson, who ran a beauty salon.<\/p>\n<div class=\"g g-6\">\n<div class=\"g-single a-30\">\n<div id=\"M837594ScriptRootC1540669_0cc2a\">\n<p>Jack believed that his grandmother was his biological mother because his alcoholic father abandoned the family when Nicholson was a child.<\/p>\n<p>June, his 19-year-old sister, had quit her job as a dancer to pursue a career as an actress. During an emotional phone call, his second\u2019sister,\u2019 Lorraine (who was actually Jack\u2019s aunt), confirmed the family\u2019s secret.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was pretty dramatic event, but it wasn\u2019t what I\u2019d call traumatizing\u2026I was pretty well psychologically formed,\u201d Jack said of the revelation.<\/p>\n<p>June was only 18 when she gave birth to Jack, and she was unmarried at the time, so her parents decided to raise him as their own. June was assigned the role of his elder sister.<\/p>\n<p>It has never been established who Nicholson\u2019s biological father was.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been widely speculated that it was June\u2019s manager, but other sources claim June had no idea who the father was.<\/p>\n<p>We can imagine it\u2019s quite a shock to reach adulthood while being fed such a massive lie.
