They also got to meet former president Bill Clinton.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s first surviving set of septuplets\u00a0Kenny Jr., Alexis, Natalie, Kelsey, Nathan, Brandon and Joel kept their parents, who already had a daughter, very busy.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.obsev.com\/life\/mccaughey-septuplets-where-are-they-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Obsev.com<\/a>\u00a0the babies required an average of 52 nappies and 42 bottles of milk each day.<\/p>\n<p>The couple did receive a lot of donations to help look after their babies include a 5,500 square foot home, a van, a year\u2019s worth of Kraft\u2019s macaroni and cheese, diapers for the first two years and full college scholarships for any state university in Iowa, as per the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/article-2861282\/Seven-turn-17-Record-breaking-McCaughey-septuplets-navigate-teenage-life-two-lost-throes-love.html#:~:text=Among%20the%20donations%2C%20they%20received,and%20went%20through%2052%20diapers.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Daily Mail.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Their parents still worked hard to do all they could to reduce the cost of caring for 8 children and started growing their own vegetables.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the septuplets, Alexis and Nathan, were diagnosed with cerebral palsy and they required the use of walkers. In 2005 Nathan had back surgery to improve his walking abilities and has since taught himself how to get around without a walker.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CK_Vw5KPsIwDFSdmpAQdIDg1EA\">\n<p>They graduated high school and all went on to college: Natalie, Kelsey, Nathan and Joel took up scholarships offered by private\u00a0Hannibal-LaGrange University\u00a0in\u00a0Hannibal in Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>Kenny and Alexis chose to stay closer to home and attended Des Moines Area Community College, and Brandon enlisted In 2005 Nathan had back surgery to improve his walking abilities and has since taught himself how to get around without a walker.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-965847897\" class=\"newsner-article_inside_content\">\n<div id=\"ad-modul_intext_59463_1\" class=\"ad-space\" data-google-query-id=\"CK_Vw5KPsIwDFSdmpAQdIDg1EA\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_0\" tabindex=\"0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/125128856\/en_newsner_com\/modul_0\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" data-load-complete=\"true\" data-google-container-id=\"7\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"newsner-6bc7acf2c479733da72f9d0023f844b8\" class=\"newsner-6bc7acf2c479733da72f9d0023f844b8 newsner-amp_article_inside_content\"><\/div>\n<p>They graduated high school and all went on to college: Natalie, Kelsey, Nathan and Joel took up scholarships offered by private\u00a0Hannibal-LaGrange University\u00a0in\u00a0Hannibal in Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>Kenny and Alexis chose to stay closer to home and attended Des Moines Area Community College, and Brandon enlisted in the\u00a0United States Army.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fkurtnews12%2Fphotos%2Fa.131063470249417%2F1112940032061751%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"594\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The siblings who graduated from college this spring say attending college was their first taste of independence.<\/p>\n<p>Kelsey said going away to college has been a growth experience for the siblings because all five are getting a taste of real independence for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrowing up, we were always together,\u201d Kelsey told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whig.com\/20181117\/mccaughey-septuplets-get-ready-to-turn-21-on-monday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Herald-Whig.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever we did, wherever we went, we were always together,\u201d added Kelsey, who majored in public relations and now hopes to get a job in the media.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FEricHansonKCCI%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02V2i4vXguxsUKbMRCCi4jkSPfTe7L6FCfksLGDwCzNMDtyrXetu39jRtSyDqxjUKXl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"469\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that being able to come to HLGU gave us our own experience to be independent and to showcase our different talents and be able to dive deep into what we want to learn and what we want our professions to be. We\u2019re not just the seven septuplets. We\u2019re becoming our own people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Older sister Mikayla got married in 2015 and the septuplets became aunts and uncles for the first time with the birth of her son. Natalie was the first of the septuplets to get married in May 2019, and four months later brother Brandon also got married.<\/p>\n<p>Natalie now hopes to attend graduate school as an athletic trainer, she told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/video\/the-mccaughey-septuplets-turn-21-1376030787521\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Today show.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alexis studied early childhood education and wants to work in an elementary school.
