he sudden demise of actor Treat Williams in a motorcycle accident has deeply saddened the cast of CBS’s Blue Bloods. Known for his recurring role as Lenny Ross in the crime drama, Williams shared a close friendship with co-star Tom Selleck, who plays Police Commissioner Frank Reagan.
Expressing regret over life’s fleeting nature, the 78-year-old Selleck said, “We are all just passing the time and occupying our chairs for a very brief period.” Fondly remembering Williams, he added, “Treat, my friend, was nicely positioned in his chair, and I’ll miss him, but I’ll never forget him.”
Bridget Moynahan, who portrays Erin Reagan on the show, remembered Williams as an “actor’s actor” and praised his on- and off-screen demeanor. Vanessa Ray, who plays Eddie Janko-Reagan’s wife, shared a heartwarming memory of Williams serenading her with a song from the Broadway version of Hair.
Williams, who frequently shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of Blue Bloods on social media, referred to himself and Selleck as “old pros.” Williams’ agent, Barry McPherson, hailed him as an “actor’s actor” and mentioned his longstanding impact on Hollywood since the late 1970s.
The actor met a tragic end in a motorcycle accident near his Vermont home. Struck by a car on Route 30 near Dorset, Vermont, Williams sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at an Albany hospital. The incident is under investigation.
Celebrities such as Gregory Smith, Laura Dern, Marilu Henner, Jonathan Bennett, Melissa Gilbert, and Kim Cattrall have expressed condolences, highlighting the enduring impact of Williams’ legacy on the entertainment industry.
