BREAKING: ICE agent SHOOTS AND KILLS Minneapolis woman through her windshield in its “largest immigration operation ever” — Mayor demands DHS exit the city.
What was sold by the Trump administration as “law enforcement” has now spiraled into chaos, bloodshed, and nationwide outrage.
Early Wednesday morning, amid the Department of Homeland Security’s massive ICE crackdown in Minneapolis, a federal agent opened fire — leaving a woman reportedly shot in the face through a windshield, a neighborhood locked down, and a city demanding answers.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz confirmed an ICE-related shooting near 33rd Street and Portland Avenue, as more than 2,000 ICE agents flooded the Twin Cities in what DHS itself bragged was its “largest operation ever.” Within minutes, the area looked less like a city block and more like an occupation zone, with hundreds of federal agents, Minneapolis police, armored vehicles, and chemical agents deployed against protesters.
Then came the most disturbing account yet.
A witness, Emily Heller, told MPR News she saw a federal agent shoot a woman multiple times at point-blank range as she sat in her car. According to Heller, agents were shouting at the woman to leave as she attempted to turn her vehicle around. One agent allegedly pressed himself against the hood, reached across it, and fired “three or four times” into her face. The car then accelerated, crashing into a utility pole after traveling about 100 feet.
A burgundy vehicle with a bullet hole through the windshield sat mangled at the scene.
State Senator Omar Fateh reported that federal agents denied a doctor the ability to provide lifesaving CPR, a claim that has only intensified public fury. Video footage showed first responders desperately attempting resuscitation while protesters chanted anti-ICE slogans nearby.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey minced no words.
“The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city,” he said, demanding ICE leave Minneapolis immediately and reaffirming solidarity with immigrant and refugee communities now living in fear.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced her office is pushing hard for a local investigation into the use of force, insisting transparency is the only way forward. Meanwhile, ICE agents reportedly fired chemical irritants at protesters as tensions escalated.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara — whose department does not enforce immigration laws — warned just days earlier that a tragedy was looming. Now, that warning feels hauntingly prophetic.
The Department of Homeland Security released the following statement in the wake of the incident:
“Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.”
“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.”
“The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. Thankfully, the ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.”
“This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.”
The DHS has no credibility in their claims that the woman the ICE agent killed was attempting to ram the agent with her car. A video of the shooting shows that the agent who shot the woman was on the side of her car and was in no danger of being rammed. ICE tried the same excuse in a similar incident in Chicago and were proven by video evidence to have lied.
DHS has said that it has already arrested more than 1,000 people across Minnesota in its immigration crackdown. But the question Americans are asking today isn’t about numbers. It’s this: How did an immigration operation turn into a neighborhood shooting — and why does it feel like no one is in control?
Minneapolis is demanding answers. And the country is watching.
