New Surveillance Footage Shows Blood Evidence Outside Home of Missing Arizona Woman

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has taken a troubling turn as investigators confirm the case is now being treated as a criminal investigation.

Newly released video footage appears to show blood droplets and splatter on the front porch of Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona home, adding to growing concerns about what may have occurred during the overnight hours before she vanished.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Saturday, January 3, and authorities say the evidence discovered at her residence suggests she may have been taken from her home against her will.

“We do believe Nancy was removed from her residence involuntarily,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said during a Tuesday press briefing.

Authorities Cite Concerning Evidence at Tucson Home

Nearly four days into an intensive search involving approximately 100 sheriff’s detectives, law enforcement officials say the investigation has uncovered several alarming details.

According to police sources, investigators became increasingly concerned after discovering blood inside the home, along with indications of forced entry. Officials have not released full specifics, citing the ongoing investigation, but have described the scene as deeply troubling.

Media reports indicate that personal belongings, including Nancy Guthrie’s phone and other items she would normally carry with her, were found inside the residence.

Video Shows Blood Trail on Front Porch

Additional attention has focused on new video footage recorded by NewsNation, which shows what appears to be a trail of dark red blood drops and splatter across the front porch and near the front door of the home.

According to the outlet, the footage was captured after authorities had processed the scene and returned the property to the family. Law enforcement has not yet confirmed whose blood is visible in the video.

The footage surfaced only hours after an unverified ransom message was reportedly sent to TMZ, demanding a large sum in Bitcoin in exchange for Guthrie’s safe return. Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of that message.

Missing Doorbell Camera Raises Questions

Investigators are also examining the disappearance of a Ring doorbell camera that had been installed near the home’s entrance. Sheriff Nanos confirmed that authorities are investigating whether the device was intentionally removed.

Nancy Guthrie lived alone in a single-story home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson. She was last seen Saturday evening after family members dropped her off at her residence.

Officials believe she may have been taken during the early morning hours.

Health Concerns Heighten Urgency

Authorities say Nancy failed to attend her regular church service on Sunday morning, prompting immediate concern from family members.

Investigators also revealed that her pacemaker stopped transmitting data to connected devices around 2 a.m., which may help establish a timeline. Law enforcement officials warn that without access to her essential medications, her health could be in immediate danger.

Savannah Guthrie Steps Away From Broadcast Duties

Savannah Guthrie has been absent from the Today show since the investigation began and withdrew from her scheduled coverage of the Winter Olympics in Italy to remain with her family.

The 54-year-old journalist has thanked the public for its support and shared a message on Instagram that simply read: “Please pray.”

In a longer post, she wrote:

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised together in love and hope. Above all, we believe in Him.”

She continued by thanking supporters for their prayers and urging continued hope for her mother’s safe return, concluding with a verse from Isaiah and the plea: “Bring her home.”

Investigation Ongoing

Law enforcement officials stress that the case remains active and evolving. Anyone with information related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is urged to contact local authorities immediately.

As investigators continue reviewing evidence and surveillance footage, the case has drawn national attention—highlighting both the urgency of missing persons investigations and the importance of community awareness in developing criminal cases.
